The Barbreck House Cross Country – Years 3 – 6
Join us at our first Inter-house Carnival of the year – The Barbreck House Cross Country for Years 3-6.
The carnival details are set out below:
Date | Tuesday 3 March 2020 |
Venue | Sir Zelman Cowen Park (Kooyong Park) |
Time | 9.30am –11.30am |
This is an exciting day for the students who will depart school at 8.45am and travel by bus to Kooyong Park, accompanied by staff.
The Program for the day is as follows:
8.45 am | Depart school for Kooyong Park |
9.30am | Years 3 and 4 (2km run) |
10.00am | Years 5 and 6 (3km run) |
10.30am | Presentations |
11.00am | Students return to school |
We encourage all girls to take on the challenge of the full distance, eager to represent their House. We understand though, that distance running can be difficult. If you feel your daughter is unable to run/walk the full distance then a shortened route (Year 3 and 4 – 1km) and (Year 5 and 6 – 2km) is available.
All students who seek to compete in the shortened route, are required to provide a signed note by a parent explaining the reason(s) why to Mr Crebbin before Wednesday 27 February 2020.
To be considered for the District Cross Country, students must run in either the Year 3 and 4 (2km) or Years 5 and 6 (3km) races. Selection for the District Cross Competition cannot be obtained through running the shorter distance.
The House Cross Country is the main selection criteria for our District squad which will train on Tuesday mornings at 7am in the lead up to the District carnival to be held on Friday 10 May 2020 (also at Kooyong Park).
Students in Years 3-6 are requested to wear full house uniform (tracksuit pants and jacket) to and from school on Tuesday 3 May 2020 (with House T-shirts). It is also recommended that students bring a water bottle.
We recommend that sunscreen be applied in the morning before leaving home and again at the carnival, and that students wear their hats to avoid sun damage. Bringing a towel to sit on is also recommended.
Please note lunch orders will be available on this day; however, we ask that the students bring their morning tea and snack food to the carnival.
We hope that you can join us on Tuesday 3 March 2020 and cheer on the students as they compete in the carnival.
