In Prep we have been discovering that a box is not just a box and an activity is not just about the finished product. Our approach to learning is just as important as what we learn.

Each week the Preps engage in a lesson that focuses on thinking and the skills involved. During our learning at home period the Preps became excited with the idea of building a rocket. Can we build them when we go back to School they asked? And so here we are, over 13 boxes later, desiging, problem solving and constructing.

Each morning the girls arrived at School eager to continue developing their rockets. We learnt and discussed topics such as:

• Resilience
• Teamwork
• Problem solving
• Communication
• Creativity
• Spatial appreciation
• 3D shapes

We learnt that at times our ideas will not work straight away, however, this provides an opportunity to be open to changing our line of thought, and investigating with trial and error. Sometimes, we just need to give things a go.

Soon the girls will present their rockets to their classmates, practising their oral presentation skills.

It is important to remember – A box is not just a box, and learning is not just the final product.
