Barbreck Update – The Show Must Go On!

The Show Must Go On!

As we continue to work through the extended lockdown, unfortunately there are some events that have been affected. Whilst rescheduling activities and performances has its challenges, we are committed to ensuring that where possible, students are able to participate and enjoy planned events at a later date. Listed below are details surrounding events currently affected by the lockdown. As always, thank you to all our Barbreck staff for their patience and flexibility in finding creative ways to deliver the curriculum and our special events.

The Wizard of Oz

Mrs Melissa Dods, Miss Kirrilly Wootton and other committed staff members have been busy working behind the scenes to ensure our Junior School production The Wizard of Oz goes ahead. We are committed to putting forward a plan that provides our students with the best performance experience available under the circumstances and to acknowledge the hard work and commitment the students have shown so far. The show must go on!

Our plans moving forward are dependent on how the current lockdown unfolds. In the meantime, we encourage all cast members to keep working on their dances, songs and dialogue so we can be ready to pull the show together when we return to School.

More information to come!

Bastille Day Celebrations Postponed

Although the celebration of France’s most celebrated day usually takes place on the 14th of July, due to lockdown interruptions we will be celebrating on our return to School. Upon our return, Monsieur Gold has planned a fun cultural lunchtime experience for the Barbreck community.

On the day, students will enjoy a picnic-style lunch (students to provide), while dressed in a ‘French-themed’ piece of clothing. There will be a short performance on the history of Bastille Day, performed by the members of the L’equipe French conversation group. This will be the ‘maiden performance’ on the newly constructed Barbreck outdoor stage.

Throughout lunchtime, French music will be played across the Village Green with much dancing and fun to be had. The music and dancing will be complemented with games of Pétanque, a traditional French game.

Further information via mystcatherine’s portal will be provided upon our return to School.

Online Learning

Thank you, as always, to our Junior School teachers for the work and effort they are putting into their daily lessons. Congratulations also to the students and families of Barbreck for their continued positive attitude towards online learning.

Despite these challenging times, it is fantastic to catch up with each other online, to learn, have fun and continue to support one another. I look forward to seeing everyone back at School soon!
