The St. Catherine’s Old Girls Association (SCOGA) is committed to supporting and promoting the participation of old girls from St. Catherine’s School in sporting activities and events. As part of our mandate, SCOGA provides funding to sporting teams associated with the old girl network to facilitate their participation and promote camaraderie among members.

Eligibility Criteria for Funding

  • Membership Requirement: Sporting teams seeking funding from SCOGA must consist of 90% St. Catherine’s old girls.
  • Inclusivity: Teams must accept entries at least once a year, and SCOGA must be allowed to post callouts on social media platforms and emails to encourage participation among old girls. Sporting teams must be listed on the SCOGA website including the sporting team captain / co-captain full name.
  • Selective Teams: If a team operates on a selective basis, it must still open its membership to all old girls at least once a year. Furthermore, the team must document and transparently share its selection process with SCOGA.

Funding Allocation

  • Financial Support: SCOGA will provide financial assistance to funded teams in the following manner:
    • SCOGA will cover 50% of the entry fees for participating in sporting events, up to a maximum of $50 per Old Girl per year. This expense requires an invoice or reimbursed from a tax receipt.
    • SCOGA will also finance the purchase of SCOGA branded merchandise required for the sporting activities, up to a maximum of $20 per Old Girl per year. This expense does not need to be matched and can either be paid directly from an invoice or reimbursed from a tax receipt.

Application Process

  • Submission: Sporting teams seeking funding from SCOGA must submit a formal application detailing their team’s composition, objectives, planned events, and funding requirements in advance of each calendar year (cut off date of 1 November). If details are unknown, sporting teams can be given conditional approval.
  • Review Process: SCOGA committee will review each application based on adherence to eligibility criteria and alignment with SCOGA’s objectives.
  • Notification: Upon review, successful applicants will be notified of the funding decision and the terms of the support provided.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Documentation: Funded teams are required to maintain records of their activities, including receipts for expenses covered by SCOGA funding.
  • Reporting: Funded teams must provide at least one annual update to SCOGA outlining any achievements and photographs to be used in SCOGA’s communication channels. This report can be submitted any time of the year but must be submitted by the 1st November at the latest.

Amendments to Policy

  • Review: This policy will be subject to periodic review by SCOGA’s executive committee to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
  • Amendments: Any proposed amendments to this policy must be submitted to SCOGA’s executive committee for review and approval.

SCOGA is dedicated to fostering the spirit of camaraderie and support among St. Catherine’s old girls through the provision of financial assistance to sporting teams. This policy aims to ensure transparent and equitable allocation of funds while promoting inclusivity and participation within the old girl network.
